Family Lenten Challenge

Throughout Lent

*Fully Online Option

Prayer: create a quiet corner in your home for prayer and reflection during Lent. This space may include a bible, candle, and journal or box of notecards to place a struggle, reflection on a Lenten sacrifice, or prayer you're bringing to God.
Almsgiving: pick up a CRS Rice Bowl after Mass on Feb 14 or make your own and find creative ways to learn about and give to this important charity throughout Lent. (Go to https://www.crsricebowl.org/families)
Fasting: On Ash Wednesday, St Joseph's Day (March 19), and Good Friday, families are challenged to fast from technology (especially social media) and use the time for reflection, service, and real connection. https://lifeteen.com/blog/detox-never-thought-needed/?goal=0_357ca7467c-fdbb37220d-314754644&mc_cid=fdbb37220d&mc_eid=8d24af7ae4

CRS Rice Bowl

Throughout Lent

https://www.crsricebowl.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Bulletin-and-Newsletter-Announcements.pdf

WE ARE CALLED to join our faith community—and more than 12,000 Catholic communities across the United States—in a life-changing Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl. Pick up your family’s CRS Rice Bowl after Masses at St Mary and St Therese churches on Feb 14 and 21. During the 40 days of Lent, we will reflect on how hunger and malnutrition affect our human family, and on the need to take action to end this global injustice. Visit www.crsricebowl.org to learn more.

Consecration to St. Joseph

Begins February 15

Pope  Francis  has  proclaimed  a  Year  of Saint Joseph, granting special indulgences to Catholics who recite any approved prayer or act of piety in honor of Saint Joseph. These  prayers  can  include  a  St.  Joseph Novena or Consecration, and/or any of the  prayers found at www.yearofstjoseph.org/devotions/prayers/. In this Year of St. Joseph, consider consecrating yourself to him!  This  means  that  you  entrust  yourself  entirely  to  St. Joseph’s paternal care, much like we consecrate ourselves to Our Lady, to let them help us grow closer to Jesus. The 33 day consecration includes 20-30 minutes a day of reflection and praying the Litany of St. Joseph. It begins on February 15th to end on the Solemnity of St. Joseph on March 19th (but can be done any time of the year). To participate, you can purchase the book online at www.consecrationtostjoseph.org. There is also a limited  number  available  on  the  table  outside  the  Parish Office (Mon-Thurs 9AM-4:30PM) for $14 —please bring exact change or make checks payable to St. John Bosco Parish and leave in the bin. St. Joseph, pray for us!
